Betrayed during a magical attack, her identity is switched with another woman’s, giving Alyrra the first choice she’s ever had: to start a new life for herself or fight for a prince she’s never met. But Alyrra soon finds that Prince Kestrin is not at all what she expected. While walking away will cost Kestrin his life, returning to the court may cost Alyrra her own. As Alyrra is coming to realize, sometime the hardest choice means learning to trust herself. Thorn has received a Badge of Approval from Awesome Indies.’
‘Thorn’ by Intisar Khanani is a book I really enjoyed a lot. From the beginning I was drawn into the story of Alyrra who, as the princess of a small land, has to marry the prince of a large and powerful neighbouring land, to secure her homelands safety. Even though getting away from the cruelty she faces at home is sounding appealing, she is not sure the life at a big court and the marriage to a prince she doesn’t know, is going to be any better. On the journey to her new life, she finds herself in the body of another woman after an attack involving magic. Shocked at first, she finds a life consisting of hard work to survive, but also friends, freedom and choices.
