Blurb: Fate and fortune. Power and passion. What does it take to be the queen of a kingdom when you’re only seventeen?

Maya is cursed. With a horoscope that promises a marriage of death and destruction, she has earned only the scorn and fear of her father’s kingdom. Content to follow more scholarly pursuits, her whole world is torn apart when her father, the Raja, arranges a wedding of political convenience to quell outside rebellions. Soon Maya becomes the queen of Akaran and wife of Amar. Neither roles are what she expected: As Akaran’s queen, she finds her voice and power. As Amar’s wife, she finds something else entirely: Compassion. Protection. Desire…

But Akaran has its own secrets—thousands of locked doors, gardens of glass, and a tree that bears memories instead of fruit. Soon, Maya suspects her life is in danger. Yet who, besides her husband, can she trust? With the fate of the human and Otherworldly realms hanging in the balance, Maya must unravel an ancient mystery that spans reincarnated lives to save those she loves the most…including herself.

‘The Star-Touched Queen’ by Roshani Chokshi is an absolute beautiful book! Everything from the writing style, the characters to the vivid world building I just totally adored. The story follows Maya, the daughter of the Raja of Bharata, who has so far lived a lonely life surrounded by people who hate and fear her. She was born with the darkest horoscope and not a day goes by where she isn’t reminded of that. But it also gives her a little hope, because no one would ever want to marry her, which means she might just get the freedom and education she desires. I just love how through all the hate and loneliness, this strong female character is emerging and she doesn’t want to marry like every other young girl…she wants more and never gives up her dreams and hope! Until her father arranges a marriage to gain an ally in the upcoming war. She is ready to help her father and when everything is falling apart she is faced with Amar…and it doesn’t take long for Maya to realise that he is not just an ordinary man! This book just blew me away and I was reluctant to turn to the last page to finish it. The author produced a satisfying ending, but I am already craving the next book! I highly recommended this book and already can’t wait to re read it myself!
