When I finished ‘The Mirror World of Melody Black’ by Gavin Extence, I closed the book and just had to sit and think about Abby and her journey for a while. The story felt so intimate and the main character Abby is very relatable and witty. After finding her neighbour dead in his flat, Abby’s life begins to quickly spin out of control and through her eyes, we witness the effect bipolar has on her life and the life of her family. But we also witness her difficult road of trying to get better and of finding herself again. This book has been such an insight into living with mental illness and how even small things can affect you, that the story and the characters will definitely stay with me for a while!
